Fashion & Textile Design

I designed sustainable running shirts for a personal brand and the Marathon of Hope, printed on vintage garments to give them a second life. Each piece blends style, movement, and conscious design.

Project Overview:

Smooth Sailing on Concrete is a personal running apparel concept created for an independent running brand that runs along the Hamilton waterfront and the Marathon of Hope run. The idea emerged during one of my own runs, inspired by the lack of fashionable, ethical, and sustainable options in performance wear. The goal was to design T-shirts that not only look good but also feel aligned with a conscious lifestyle: blending creativity, comfort, and sustainability.

Objectives:

The main objective was to design wearable art that carries both a message and a mission: to make running apparel more meaningful and environmentally responsible.Through this project, I wanted to:

  1. Challenge the norms of fast fashion in sportswear.
  2. Promote reusing and repurposing through vintage materials.
  3. Create designs that embody freedom, movement, and individuality.

Scope of Work:

I developed several T-shirt designs under the Smooth Sailing on Concrete concept, each printed on second-hand garments to give them a renewed purpose.

This included:

  • Concept creation and slogan development.
  • Graphic design and illustration for two original T-shirt designs.
  • Selection of vintage garments suitable for screen printing.
  • Art direction for sustainable printing methods and material reuse.

Each piece represents both creative expression and conscious production, design with intention, movement, and meaning.
